Music Madness

Waiting for a new song to come out lately feels like waiting on Christmas Eve for the time to go by to go to bed.

During quarantine there has not been much to do. Music is one of the few excitements. Many artists have put out new music whether being albums or singles. Some have been hits…others not so much.

Many people have different preferences when it comes to music especially with the music that has come out recently. Artists have been releasing a lot of music because of all the time they have on their hands.

“The new music released doesn’t really interest me because there’s nothing like a classic song,” junior, Annabelle Carrillo said.

It’s almost as if artists are producing the first drafts of their songs. There is probably an intense amount of pressure for artists at the moment because they have the time to make amazing songs.

Regardless of how the song sounds or who made the song, people are excited to hear about new music.

“I was so happy to hear new music during Covid. It’s such a challenging and sad time for so many that listening to new music can definitely uplift your spirits,” broadcast journalism teacher Ms. Elizabeth Perez said.

It is exciting to have something to look forward to and something to brighten the day while stuck at home.

Some are even branching out to new music genres. Songs from many different genres have been released that have changed the minds of thousands of people.

Along with many others junior Isa Castro has also expanded her horizons.

“The song ‘Lost in Translation’ and ‘Better’ have made me like Indie rock and R&B music a lot more to the point where it’s now one of my favorite music genres,” Castro said.

Although all the credit should not be given to the artist, these times of anxiety have definitely impacted people.

Yet, music lovers would rather stay close to home and stick to what they know and love. It’s a good thing their favorites have been producing music to add to their playlists.

“The newest songs were in a genre that I listen to everyday,” Carrillo said.

Music is definitely important in everyone’s day and throughout these difficult times it has given everyone something to look forward to.
