Out With the New In With the Old

People tend to say out with the old and in with the new but somehow the old just keeps coming back.

Every twenty years or so trends come back in style. Now, in 2020, things like disposable cameras, clothing trends, and hair styles are the new thing.

“I actually found my grandma’s sunglasses from the 90’s that have made a comeback,” junior Gabriella Puig said.

People have these phones that can take pictures with amazing quality but all they want is the rustic look of a disposable Polaroid camera. It is almost impossible to find one of these cameras.

“I’m obsessed with the filter that the photos come out with,” junior Mariana Brime said.

Since filters aren’t enough to make the picture look old people insist on buying a camera that takes photos that look like they were taken 50 years ago. People all over the world are obsessed with them and are buying them left and right.

“I love using disposable cameras because the pictures it develops are very unique and seem like it was taken right there and then,” senior Lauren Fernandez said.

Fashion trends are always changing but the new trends now are baggy jeans with sweaters and a collar. Styles from the 1980s are coming back although no one wears bright colors and leg warmers. Scrunchies and big clothes have been in for the past year and people are obsessed.

“I think the quote by Yves Saint Laurent that states, ‘Fashion fades, style is eternal’ best represents my answer to this question” Brime said.

The bangs are back and here to stay. Throughout this year people have been changing up their life from style to hair to their entire lifestyle. Hair has definitely been a huge part of this. Curtain bangs have become the new hair craze recently.

“I love curtain bangs, and I also love the hair trend of having big bouncy curls that frame your face instead of many individual curls” Puig said.

Clothes, hairstyles, and aesthetics is what makes the world go round and what better way to honor old styles by bringing them back.
