The Return of Adele

Appearing to say “Hello” again, legendary English singer and songwriter Adele made a reappearance after a momentary career pause.

“I’m excited for her new music because she has a good voice and she makes good music that I can connect with,” sophomore Sofia Maggiolo said. “I missed her making new music a lot.”

Adele’s climb to fame has stretched upon many years, but what truly kicked it off was the release of her first album: 19. Immediately after its release, Adele quickly rose to fame and became popular across Europe and the United States.

The reason as to why Adele quickly became so popular was because her songs were inspired by her raw and true emotions. In addition to that, she took the opportunity to implement life changing events she was going through in them.

“I think that Adele is so popular because she is so unique and I feel her emotions through her songs,” junior Gianna Robles said. “She inspires me because she is someone I look up to and she shows me that it’s okay to speak about and express your emotions.”

According to reporter Jude Rogers from The Gentlewoman, Adele’s debut album, 19, narrates the emotional year she had at that age, in which she went through her first big break-up and changed from a ‘girl to a woman’.

A few years later, Adele struck again, continuing to release albums that resonated with her age, such as 21 and then 25. Before going on tour in 2017, complications with her vocal cords forced her to put a halt on her career. This brought out many uncertainties and worries amongst herself and her fans, but it didn’t stop her songs from being listened to.

“I found myself listening to ‘Rolling In the Deep’ a lot because I thought it was amazing and what I loved about it was just how powerful her voice was,” English teacher Mrs. Mari Vazquez said. “Another song I listened to was ‘Hello’ because you feel the pain of the song and how she was fighting the temptation to call him when she knew she shouldn’t.”

Now, after her silence, Adele has released a new single, “Easy On Me”, along with an upcoming album that will be released in November.
With 115,895,419 downloads in less than two weeks of its release, it is apparent that Adele’s new song has been loved by many ranging from in the school community to around the world.

“I really like ‘Easy On Me’ because I feel that it has a lot of meaning and background to it that I can connect with,” Robles said.

Many of her fans have been anticipating this moment, and with that, there is a communal sense of commotion, excitement, and all around eagerness to hear Adele’s voice once again.
