As the world rings in the new year, there’s always that famous one question everyone asks you: What are your new year’s resolutions? Here are our tips on how you can get ready for the new year and maintain these resolutions healthily.

New Year’s resolutions are never easy and tend to be much easier to write down than to keep, because we all know that tackling every single aspect of your life in one go is inevitably exhausting by March. This year, however, you’re going to set your goals and stick to them with help from some of the tips we hope can help you achieve a 2022 you’ll never forget.

Mentally prepare yourself.

A new year includes new expectations from yourself, and all of these goals are bound to bring change into your life. Take the time, before you even begin, to prepare yourself for this beautiful journey you will go on this 2022.

                                                                                                                                            Write it out!

Thinking about your goals is great, but you’ll be surprised how easily the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives can make us forget them. Take time and write down your resolutions, organizing them carefully in a Google Docs, your Notes app, or a journal. These are life-changing goals waiting for you to take that step and start them. Writing establishes intention, and that’s all you need to start. If you’re not that into writing, visualize it with pictures. Head over to that Pinterest board you may or may not have and organize your thoughts, placing your masterpiece somewhere you can be reminded to continue forward.

Start with specific micro-goals.

We all have those larger than life goals we’d like to accomplish before we’re met yet again with Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve hours before the new year. Start with small goals that will lead you to that larger goal you’d like to attain, while being realistic with the goals by setting yourself up for success with something you are both willing and capable of achieving.

Set resolutions for the right reasons.

With all the social pressure around setting those new resolutions before it’s already too deep into the year, it is important to remember that all of this goal setting should be for you, not for those around you. Think of your “Why?” and start from there, asking yourself the reasoning behind your goals and how you are going to thrive in the long run. Remember, when you thrive, so do those around you.

Reward yourself for your effort.

The new year brings many new beginnings, and all of this work certainly deserves some fun, no? Take time to reward yourself for all the effort you have put into your goals, no matter how big or small they are. And hey, if you haven’t even started your resolutions yet, reward yourself with the thought that you want to better yourself and that is an accomplishment in and of itself.

                                                                                                                                                       Be patient with yourself.

Change is a process and results, whatever they may be, take time. Sometimes we may feel overwhelmed by our own goal setting, especially when we reach June, and we haven’t even made a dent in this list we made for ourselves. Life is hectic as it is, and sometimes we may feel like we have no chance to accomplish those goals. Remember that this a journey and no one is perfect. Take your time, practicing patience and forgiveness with yourself.

Share your resolutions with those around you.

At the end of the day, we’re all starting something new for ourselves. Share your goals and resolutions with others, let them be your friends or family members. Now that you’ve told someone about your resolutions, there’s a sense of accountability and accomplishment that you want to commence. Those who happily heard your resolutions are sure to want to ask you about them later and when you succeed, they’ll be there to celebrate with you!

Don’t give up!

You’ve got this! We know times can be hard, and you will have those moments where you don’t want to get out of bed or are tempted to stray away from your goals. In those moments, think back as to why you started and know that you are unstoppable.

We want you to know that when you love yourself and set these goals, you let the universe know that you deserve the best. You are valued, worthy, and so ready to tackle this year with the power we all know you’ve got within.
