Lacrosse Season Heats Up
The Varsity Lacrosse Team is prepared to conquer their first season as a District qualified team. Ever since the beginning of the Lacrosse of 2020 has been working towards being able to qualify for districts for the first time.
This season’s team consists of 32 girls. Coach Cassie Hidalgo has been the coach for the past 3 years. The captains are Alissa Gonzalez Muir, Gaby Ziegenhirt, Gaby Puig, Tori Poveda and Eva Aguirre. Each captain models leadership and sportsmanship as they work together to achieve their team goals.
“As one of the starting members of the team, watching my team grow with each other has been the best experience in my high school sports career,” Captain, senior Gaby Ziegenhirt said.
The practices are held at the school from Monday through Friday from 2:45-4:45. The team plays a total of 12 games this season. The first game was on February 23 against Palmetto High School. The ending score was 2-5 .
“Even though we lost our first game, we will not let that ruin our hopes of having a successful season. We are going to practice and work even harder as a team to make it to our goal which is to advance to Districts,”senior Juliana Peredo said.
The team will be playing today against Flannagan at 4:00 pm, Tuesday, March 1. The team is hoping for an exciting season.
