Let’s go Bobcats! Bump, set, spike, and the season begins. This year the school has three Volleyball teams: a varsity team and two junior varsity teams.

Last year they accomplished a record of twenty three victories and five losses, finishing tenth in their region.  This year they are striving for the same success. The volleyball team has been training all summer to prepare for the season. Though they enjoyed their time away from OLLA, these days the athletes are hard at work in the gym everyday. The Bobcats had their first home game last week versus Miami High.

“We played our hearts out, and it was definitely shown by our 3-0 win,” senior and four year letterman Gaby Fernandez said.

Although it’s only the beginning of the season,  the volleyball team shows a lot of promise. Fans are excited to see how far they go in the coming months.

“I’m so glad that we have a great team and can’t wait to see more games,” freshman Caro Lopez said.

A driving factor of the Bobcats’s success is the amazing energy of the crowd. On Tuesday, August 30, 650  tickets were sold out and that’s not even including the lourdes girls that get in for free. The crowd  was cheering “Let’s go Bobcats” cheers were roaring throughout the gym.

“The energy and support of everyone made the game a lot more entertaining,”senior Ana Sofia Sanchez said.

Soon, the varsity team will be having senior night. On this night they will be playing Archbishop Coleman Carroll where the seniors will be celebrated. The gym will be covered with posters and banners representing the seniors.

“I can’t wait to decorate the gym for our seniors,” sophomore Ella Garcia said.

This season should be filled with fun and support for all  games.  Everyone is excited to see what this season brings and can’t wait to continue to cheer on our bobcats.
