On Friday, Christopher Columbus High School hosted their annual back-to-school party, Beach Bash. This event is highly anticipated year after year, and gives students the opportunity to meet and hangout with their peers outside of school hours. The school provides food trucks, tables set up to play dominoes, and three live DJ’s in the gymnasium, cafeteria, and outside on the patio. Wherever you go, there are teens dancing, laughing, having fun, and getting a taste of the high school experience, aside from the education.
“My favorite part of Beach Bash was being able to see and meet new people,” freshman Daniella Perez said. “I also loved dancing and singing with all of my friends and teammates.”
As a member of the varsity dance team, Dani was able to spend time with her teammates from all grade levels and start off her freshman year on a high note. It was a pleasant bonding experience to share with her dance team and helped her feel more comfortable with the girls that she’s not as close to.
Seniors celebrated the “beginning of the end” and danced the night away in their tie-dye purple shirts, made specifically for this night. Getting the chance to interact with people they have been walking the school halls with for the past three years, without judgment and with more familiarity, made for an amazing night filled with big smiles and lots of new memories. Although it was bittersweet considering they will never be able to attend Beach Bash again, it was definitely a perfect way to seal the tradition. Many Seniors agreed that this Beach Bash was their favorite and they will cherish the memories for years to come.
“Going to Beach Bash as a senior surpassed all of the other years by far,” senior Jaela Mansell said. “Between matching with all of the Lourdes girls and seeing so many of my friends from other schools, Beach Bash, this year, was one to remember. ”
Not only did students get to share this experience with their OLLA sisters, but also boys from Columbus and girls from other schools such as St. Brendan, Westminster Christian, and more! The opportunity to spend time with friends from several different schools does not come around very often, which adds to the reason that this event is truly one of a kind and so special.
