On Wednesday, September 11, during Focus, our students gathered in the gym to be informed about all of the clubs our school offers led by students of all grade levels. As they excitedly walked around, big, colorful posters caught their eyes. From stage production, to speech and debate, to environmental club, there was something for everyone.
“The club fair is such a vital event and a great start to our school year. It creates so many opportunities to be involved both inside and outside of the OLLA community,” said Senior Lauren Little, Vice President of the Environmental Club. “Joining clubs and participating in academic teams adds so much value to our sisterhood, both academically and socially. As a club leader, I am able to see first hand how these extracurriculars bring students of all ages together. I am beyond grateful that I am able to connect with my OLLA sisters and develop relationships that will last me a lifetime.”
Clubs give OLLA students the opportunity to get involved and surround themselves with people who have similar interests as them. It is an important aspect of the school community and experience. Joining clubs allows students to find what they are passionate about and makes them unique. It is a great way to stand out and shows different sides to your personality. Many clubs include service opportunities focused on helping the community, even something as simple such as baking for fun, or reading and discussing different books. They also give students more leadership opportunities as they can run for a executive position in the club.
“The club fair was such a good opportunity to be able to explore the different club options Lourdes has to offer and learn about new ways to be an active member in my school,” said junior Valentina Larrauri.
At OLLA, there are countless ways to get involved, find new hobbies, make friends, and leave your mark. Clubs are a helpful way to maximize your high school experience and find the things that make you, you.
