This past week the anticipated first part of season four of the beloved show, Outer Banks, came out on Netflix. Outer Banks has been close to all of our hearts since the first season came out, during the peak of the pandemic and quarantine in 2020. The North Carolina landscape, the rivalry between Pogues and Kooks, the sprouting new and old relationships, and the adventures that the group undergoes leaves all fans eagerly waiting for more.
The first season coming out while all of us were actively on lockdown, gave us that sense of freedom and livelihood that we were all longing for through the characters, as well as a sense of distraction from all the chaos that the world was in. It most importantly gave us hope that soon enough we would be able to reunite with our friends and have fun together once again, just like the friend group in the show.
This new season further proves the show’s ability to blend adventure, mystery, romance, and teen drama, but this time it came with a twist: it’s been split into two parts, a new trend that many shows have done due to it creating even more anticipation and suspense.
The new episodes dig deeper into the lives of the Pogues as they face new challenges and navigate the aftermath of last season’s cliffhangers. It kicks off with our beloved characters facing new challenges, rivalries, and, of course, the hunt for treasure. Deeper character arcs that reveal how each character has evolved since the last season individually and together.
The romantic relationships in the group, John B. and Sarah, J.J. and Kiara, and Pope and Cleo leave viewers hoping for their happy ending. Specially since so many of us have been tuned in since it first came out and have seen them grow together.
As we part with Part 1 and the multiple cliffhangers that it was left in, it leaves us counting the days until Part 2 drops which is expected to be November 7. Will the pogues get their way once again? Will new alliances form? The anticipation is keeping us all on the edge of our seats, similar to the thrill of a treasure hunt itself.
