This past Tuesday, the seniors and their freshman little sisters came together after school for a Mardi Gras getty in the Grotto. The event was all about building connections, creating memories, and having fun. There was upbeat music playing in the background, beautiful weather, sweet treats, and laughter all around.
As the freshmen arrived, they were greeted with warm smiles, and were overwhelmed with excitement to have the chance to bond with their big sisters. Whether it was sharing stories about their experiences, laughing together, or simply enjoying the treats, they were just glad they had time to spend together. The freshmen felt welcomed, and the seniors took great pride in being there for them, offering encouragement and support.
“I was a little nervous at first, but seeing my big sister and all the fun everyone is having makes me feel so much better,” freshman Daniella Perez said.
Since there aren’t many opportunities for seniors and freshmen to interact during the school day, this event was especially meaningful. This event fostered a sense of unity across grade levels, giving the freshmen a chance to engage with their seniors in a relaxed, fun environment. For both the freshmen and seniors, it was a refreshing reminder that high school isn’t just about academics—it’s about community and support.
“I was so excited to see my little sister,” senior Madison Fernandez said. “I love when I get to see her, which isn’t often. Thanks to this getty, we were able to talk a lot.”
The seniors and freshmen walked away from the event feeling closer than ever. They understood the value of sharing these moments together, since soon they won’t be able to anymore. It was an unforgettable afternoon full of hugs, laughter, and plenty of delicious treats. We look forward to more events like this in the future!
