As we grow up, we start to find our style, personality, likes, dislikes and truly ourselves. While there is an explanation for our physical features, one would begin to question how our mental characteristics come to be. There are many theories as to why, with one of the most notable of them being the belief in zodiac signs.

The zodiac attributes the placement of the stars and the moon to personality and character traits. The 12 zodiac signs were assigned by the ancient Greeks to help explain the unexplainable. According to Time.com, humans have always been looking at the stars for answers.

According to britannica.com, “Astrology and zodiac signs can give us a glimpse of a person’s character, preferences, flaws, and fears.”

All over social media and the internet, there has recently been a trend involving zodiac signs. They compare celebrities who share zodiac signs and their likenesses are truly jaw dropping. It definitely proves that zodiac signs have an influence on ourselves and others. The there is some sort of connection to be found.

Along with that, they can also influence your relationships with others. Are we drawn to certain signs? Is there truth to the personality traits associated with each sign? It may seem far- fetched but I feel that they do.

I personally find this super interesting as it applies to many current situations in my life. I have lost friends whose signs have been scientifically proven to be toxic with mine, but I have gained many close friends whose signs have seemed to be compatible.

According to verywellmind.com, “Zodiac compatibility charts are sometimes used to determine if a person is a match.”

Many people believe that zodiac signs mean nothing, but there are many others who do believe in them, myself included. Even for those who believe, however, these compatibility charts are not 100% accurate. Zodiac signs are not individualized and specific all the time, and that has to be taken into consideration. Horoscopes are not to be followed blindly, they serve more as possibilities.

“ I honestly think zodiac signs are creepily accurate to how we are but, I feel like compatibility just depends on the kind of person you are rather than your actual sign; although they are very good at categorizing people,” sophomore Andrea San Martín said.

Overall,  zodiac signs are a very interesting and useful way to find an answer to explain ourselves and who we are. They are definitely real things that affect us and the world around us.
