Universal Studios welcomes back all it’s horror-loving guests in Orlando.

The revving engines of chainsaws and the screams of teens from all over the country are heard all throughout Universal Studios, now that Halloween Horror Nights is back.

Halloween Horror Nights is a fight-filled event annually hosted by Universal Studios with ghouls and goblins galore. Due to 2020’s COVID-19, the Halloween themed event was canceled last year. So this year, it is no surprise people were more than ready to return.

“We were all locked up for a while so everyone was eager to go out again,” sophomore Samantha Hughes said.

Horror Nights is said to be an experience like no other.

“I enjoyed my trip to Horror Nights because I got to go with a friend which made it funnier and I experienced it for the first time, not by myself, but with other people,” Hughes said.

Like Hughes, most people usually travel in groups to elevate the fun and excitement.

“Who you go with really matters because it contributes to how much fun you have,” sophomore Ines Saudino said. “The more people the better in my opinion.”

From horrifying haunted houses to sinister scare zones, there is action in every corner.

“My favorite haunted house was the pumpkin house, and my favorite scare zone was the chainsaw one because they would chase after you,” Saudino said.

Halloween Horror Nights is mainly marketed towards high school and college students, but many adults attend as well.

“I enjoyed being with my friends, but it was extremely overwhelming being that scared for that long, so I was exhausted,” Algebra teacher Ms. Figueras said.

While Figueras isn’t planning on returning, she has an interesting idea as to why others might.

“I think there are a lot of people who enjoy getting scared,” Ms.Figueras said. “I don’t happen to be one of those people, but I know there are.”

In scare zones there are actors dressed in different themes in certain areas of the park ready to jump out and scare you half to death, but that may not be everyone’s ideal evening.

“I think I enjoyed the houses more because I could mentally prepare myself for what was to come,” Ms.Figueras said.

One thing that seems to be unchanging, whether one went years ago or this current year, is the recommendation of entering Halloween Horror Nights with a strong support group of friends.

“You need people to protect you,” Ms.Figueras said half-jokingly.

Aside from the actual event, her favorite part of the entire trip was the drive to and from Horror Nights while she hung out with her friends.

Halloween Horror Nights has been said to be an unforgettable adventure, whether one swears on going back, or decides against it, the draw is the quality time with friends.
