On Thursday, March 7th the underclassmen student body partook in the annual Executive Board Symposium, in which the seven Executive Board (EB) junior candidates each gave their speeches as to why they are best suited for their respective positions.

The candidates for the coveted role of President are Justina Montaldo and Bianca Baena. Meanwhile, the race for Vice-President is between Chloe Hanna and Sofia Rivero. Samantha Barreto is running unopposed for Secretary, so it’s not too early to start celebrating her undisputed victory. Lastly, Francesca Caraballo and Angelica Asmar are going head-to-head for the position of Treasurer.

“While I was at the symposium I was able to really tell how well-prepared and how ready to take on the role all the candidates are,” Executive Board Vice-President Gabriella Mallafre said. “You can tell how hard they’ve worked to get to this point and how passionate they are about what they are saying. Nobody can doubt their love for this school and for their fellow classmates. All of the candidates were so nice and supportive of one another, so I really couldn’t be more proud of them.”

“My advice for the 7 girls, 4 of which could be our future EB members would be to remember that whoever the other 3 girls are, they are going to be their team and all 7 will ultimately be working with together anyway,” Mrs. Figueras said. “So while is a race and there is gonna be a winner, we are all in the same student council team and we are all going to be working toward the same goals, loving our school equally and leading by example equally.”

March 8th marked the end to a strong campaigning week as the 2024-2025 Executive Board results were announced. 98.7% of the student body voted for next year’s leaders: Justina Montaldo as President, Sofia Rivero as Vice-President, Samantha Barreto as Secretary, and Francesca Caraballo as Treasurer.

“I am completely sure that next year’s Executive Board will be exceptional and they will make their class and the whole school proud,” EB Secretary Carolina Martinez said. “It’s not an easy job, but its a rewarding one. I so am excited for all the fun things the new EB girls will get to do next year.”
